Advisors Project Programs

The Advisors Project is Jerry’s effort to raise consciousness among professional advisors and their clients about the importance of including conversations about values in creating an estate plan. Not only do such conversations yield greater gifts for philanthropy, they also make for more enduring and satisfying client relationships. Although considered "soft side" programs, in that they do not focus on the technical minutiae of the tax code and philanthropy, these programs have been awarded continuing education credit for accountants, financial advisors, and insurance and in the case of attorneys have received both substantive and ethics credits, in every jurisdiction in which credit has been sought. Project programs have been presented nationally, and in most instances are presented to the professional advisory committees of community foundations.

Here's what some participants had to say about Advisors Project programs (caps were in the originals ;)):

"POWER Planning – A Workshop for Professional Advisors

Presentations range from 1 – 4 hours, or full day, in lecture or workshop format, as desired. Eligible for Continuing Education credits, including Ethics credits.

POWER here is an acronym for the material and how it is organized:
P= Philanthropy Matters;
O=Own Your Part in the Process;
W=What Works;
E=End it Right; and
R=Reap the Rewards.
Building upon the "Focusing" presentation (see below), POWER reorganizes the material, and provides a hands on experience for advisors.

"What’s My LINE?" – a Presentation for Donors, Board Members, and Volunteers"

LINE here is also an acronym -
L=Legacy - intentional or accidental;
I=Individual - values and advisors;
N=Next Generation - Good Plan or just Good Idea?;
E=Entity - Only after asking the first 3 can we begin to address the fourth.

"Focusing Client Intentions: Passions, Processes & Planning"

Presenting the results of numerous studies on the importance of discerning clients’ values in planning. This results in not only greater gifts to philanthropy - it also significantly increases client satisfaction.
